CHRIST MORAVIAN CHURCH

Tasked to develop a new lighting plan and ceiling feature to the current sanctuary, I selected appropriate lighting fixtures and other elements. This lighting design concept incorporates efficient lighting to emphasize the building as a house of worship. This included attention to accent, ambient, daylight, decorative, task, and safety illumination. The familiar Moravian star chandelier is hung above the chancel as a decorative element unique to the church. Smaller chandelier fixtures are hung in the sanctuary and above the baptistery for additional lighting and interest. The lighting plan suggested contributes to the natural lighting already present from the large windows behind the baptistry and on the sides of the sanctuary.
To add depth to the sanctuary ceiling, wooden beams are stretched between the corners and intersect in the middle. 2x2 lay-in ceiling tiles are included in the rooms directly off of the sanctuary. The concept also includes location suggestions for two security cameras and a smart pad to control HVAC, A/V, and a security alarm. Additionally, suggestions were made for the placement of integrated speakers, HVAC supplies and returns, and sprinkler heads.
